Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight & Management: Monitor and manage the accounts receivable and billing functions for multiple facilities to ensure the fiscal health of the region. This includes ensuring accurate and timely billing for Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, private insurance, and other payers.
  • Collections & Accounts Receivable: Conduct regular AR reviews, assist with aggressive collections efforts, and implement strategies to meet or exceed cash collection targets, particularly for past-due accounts (e.g., 98% cash collections on Private Pay funds).
  • Training & Support: Assist with the hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of BOMs and business office staff across the region.
  • Compliance & Policy Implementation: Ensure all facilities adhere to federal and state regulations, as well as company policies and standardized procedures. Intervene to resolve issues and audit facility processes regularly to ensure compliance.
  • Month-End Close & Reporting: Oversee the month-end closing procedures to ensure financial accuracy and timely reporting to senior management.
  • Census Management: Monitor and verify daily census information, ensuring accurate recording of admissions, discharges, transfers, and payer changes to facilitate correct billing.
  • Resident Trust Accounts: Provide oversight and ensure all resident trust accounts are maintained and reconciled monthly in accordance with federal and state guidelines, including managing petty cash and refund requests.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with on-site Administrators, clinical staff, the corporate billing office, and external auditors to resolve billing discrepancies and streamline operations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements within the business office function and assist with the creation and implementation of standardized best practice procedures.

Travel: Must be willing to travel frequently to all assigned facilities within the designated geographic area, occasionally filling in as an on-site BOM during leaves of absence.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of business office management experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) is required, with strong multi-site or regional experience preferred.
  • Billing Expertise: In-depth understanding and experience with Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, Managed Care, and private insurance billing and collections processes is essential.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related healthcare field is strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in healthcare billing software; Point Click Care (PCC) experience is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and other relevant computer software.
  • Attributes: Must be results-focused, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
